Redairu Nanashii's Ultimate Attack.

The Annihilator Beam, code-name the A-Beam. Harnesses the electromagnetic field of the Earth and all electricity in the area, including generator and air alike, and channels it into a wave of energy that sweeps a target range, from only a few feet wide, to thousands of miles, lasting for as short or as long as desired. The effects of the A-Beam are as such: All mechanical weapons and computer systems, including vehicles on ground and in the air, cease to function, and will forever cease to function. The effects are a devestating blow to the enemy's firepower and economy, forcing them to build from the ground up if ever they wish to attack again.

It's a sad excuse for a post, but at least it's something.

Calculations

So, yeah. I'm trying to figure out how much of the earth would be submerged if the polar ice caps were to melt and all the water on earth was put into the ocean - not including what's in lifeforms or our food and what not. So far, all I've got are a bunch of numbers and little idea of what to do with them. My mind may be a calculator, but even a calculator needs an equasion to know what to do with a series of numbers. Here's what I've got so far:

There are 326 million trillion galons of water on Earth.
There are 1,097,509.5 trillion cubic feet on Earth.
The diameter of the Earth at the equator is 12,756 km, or 7,926 miles.
The circumference around the Earth at the equator is 40,075 km, or 24,901 miles.
The diameter of the Earth that is solid is 6378 km.
The atmosphere above the crust conists of 1.4051 billion trillion kilograms.

So yeah. I've got an idea about what to do with it all, but maybe I'm just too lazy right now. Anyway, it's a lot of work. Would be great if I could just find a site that told me what I wanted to know. What are those lazy-ass scientists doing, anyway?

The Early Travels of Rhia

Finally, something to show for the research I've been doing. This shouldn't have anything to do with my first book, but it will be everything to my second and probably third book. Here's what I've got so far.

circa 5000BCE: Surfaces in present day Mecca.

Sidenote: Rhia travels only at night while in the desert, as not only is it smart to stay cool, but she's used to the life of a Drow, in which you're active during the day and very sensitive to sunlight. She's also being pursued by countless different predators - animal, elf, and human - which means she's often travelling out of her way or backtracking, or spending the eight hours of darkness on the run, rather than at a leisurely walk.

For six months: Journeys to Jiddah and travels up coast of Red Sea to Jordan and Israel. Passes through Bethlehem and Jerusalem, on up to Nazareth, then pulls around towards Armenia, possibly following a nomadic tribe. Passes through Damascus, stop at Lake Al Asad, then enter Turkey. Head for Lake Van, sight susceptable to Earthquakes. Pass into Georgia, saved by Tobias. His Kingdom near the mountain Kazbek, on the side bordering Russia.

Sidenote: Rhia heads first towards water out of instinct. Also out of instinct, she begins to move north, heading for the nearest forested areas. It is also north where the original Drow Kingdom of Lloth exists. So it isn't aimless wandering, but an almost instictual migratory route.

Circa 4800 BCE: Stays with Tobias for about two hundred years, travelling briefly into Russia. Flees when Incident occurs, south into Armenia, to the Arax river. Here, she encounters the first human civilization of Metstamor.

For six months: Doesn't hang around, as she's being pursued. Catches an elven ship across the Caspian Sea, staying on as it passes around the ports along the north west to north eastern coastline, getting off in Kazakhstan. Treks east by northeast around the Aral Sea, straight on to Lake Balkhash, then into China.

Sidenote: Using present-day names for countries, cities, and landmarks. The names most likely did not exist in this time, in which case I'll probably either find their old names, or make up some for them in the book. But this is just to give an idea for today.

For 800 years: Travels through the forests of China, keeping to the outskirts of the elven kingdoms. Makes her way rather leisurely around China and the neighboring southern countries, learning how to survive in the wild and how to deal with different types of creatures, especially humans.

Sidenote: At this time, in China, humans were almost entirely nomadic, villages only existing around areas where hunting could be done in that one area. Very little agriculture until later on.

For 1200 years: Then moves up through Mongolia into Russia, deciding to break away from elven society and try to live off the nomadic humans. Travels briefly into the Americas as well as eastern Europe.

Sidenote: For the longest time, she doesn't try to cooperate with humans, but only take what she needs from them, often killing one, two, or whole groups of them, thus beginning her nickname of the Typhoon and building her alliances with mercenaries and the more murderous humans.

circa 2800 BCE: Travels through Eastern Europe, back down through the Middle East along the Mediteranean, coming into Egypt, where the Unification of the norther and southern kingdoms had just taken place.

An Experience

Something that happened to me. You decide where the reality stops and the story begins. I cannot tell anymore.

I couldn't believe it when I saw him. I was on a bus heading into New York. One minute, I'm wondering how horrible the show will be, being disgusted by the smells, and a score of other unimportant, mostly depressing things. I never much cared for the city, afterall. Traffic was crawling through the Lincoln tunnel. I only glanced up as the bus pulled up along side of us. And there he was. He looked so tired, and depressed. Worse off than me, I thought. Then he looked up. He met my eyes for only a moment before his bus pulled ahead of mine. I watched, and willed the bus to go faster. Sure enough, we pulled up alongside each other at the toll boothe. I stared at him, and his own intense stare back at me was startling. Did he know me like I knew him? I lifted my hand and pressed it to the window. He did the same. I wondered if the pain on his face mirrored my own. My heart leapt as the bus pulled forward. Not yet; please not yet. I kept my eye on his bus as long as I could, but we were soon too far ahead. I sank back in my seat, wanting to cry. I'd found him, and now he was gone. Or so I thought.
As we pulled up outside a row of restaurants and peep shows, I slumped out of the bus, feeling even worse than before. I happened to glance to my right, and saw a familiar boy step off the bus behind us. Again, our eyes met. I pushed past the others standing around and ran to him. He stepped back once and held out his arms. I leapt into them and he held me tight.
"It's you! Him..." I said as I nuzzled my cheek to his.
"And you...the girl from my dreams." He held me close to him.
"I've been looking for you..."
"Me, too. How did this happen?"
"I don't know. But I'm glad. You were all I ever had for so long." I pulled back from him and gazed into his face. "So, this is what you look like." I touched his face. "You're gorgeous."
He smiled and actually blushed. "And you're even prettier than I thought. But your touch is just the same."
"And yours. Tell me, what is your name?"

And here..I must stop. For perhaps I'll never know His name...the man in my nightmares. The man who has indeed been all I ever had for so very long... Where are you..?

Jason RAVVK5 (1:18:19 AM): ::a week or two would pass, the kids starting to adjust to not having the stranger around anymore - the little kids would miss her most, having quickly latched on to the thought of her as mommy. however, one morning, before the fog that plagued them every morning could completely pass, they'd be taken by surprise by a few uninvited guests. a group of 'real' pirates, adults looking for loot, rather than just stuff they could pick up from old abandoned places.. one of the look-outs would spot it as it was coming into harbour and quickly sound the alarm, but there'd be little to no time for them to prepare::
nelmorr13 (1:20:36 AM): ::as planned, all of the smaller children would head for the interior of the island, the older ones dealing with the defense. there were several cannons mounted on at opposite ends of the harbour. they would begin firing on the ship as other kids lay in wait for the crew.::
Jason RAVVK5 (1:23:52 AM): ::they would find very quickly that they were going to be in for it - on either side of the ship were anchored three gattling guns, six in all. not to mention the canons, and the men on board with heavy fire-arms::::Nadia would be standing beside Dart, eyes wide as she saw those guns open fire on their coast. three were set on putting holes in all of their boats in port, while the other three went about taking out the cannons:: Dart..we have to get out of here..
nelmorr13 (1:26:20 AM): ::he glared out at the boat, giving a growl. he then turned to Nadia.:: Tell everyone to head for the emergency boat on the other side of the island. I'll hold these bastards off.
Jason RAVVK5 (1:31:30 AM): ::a frightened look fell over her face, reaching out to grab hold of him:: No. You're coming, too...Dart, you can't fight a whole band of pirates on your-!::they'd be interrupted by shouts from the other kids around them, some pointing towards the ship. there'd be shouts coming from there, too. looking a little to the right of the ship, they'd be able to see - and here - a speedboat. and, there at the wheel, was their stranger. she angled the approach so that when she left the boat, it would keep going without hitting the pirate ship or the island. and, just as she came near the ship, she'd leap up out of it, drawing a sabre strapped to her hip. some would be calling her insane for going up against all that artillery with just a sabre, but they'd shut up very quickly when the noticed three gattling guns missing after only about fifteen seconds. seemed the cold sleep had done little to her ability::
nelmorr13 (1:33:46 AM): ::he'd be amazed, watching silently for a moment before shaking himself out of it.:: Don't argue with me! Now go!! ::pushing her away, he turned looking up at that ship. he had to help her. he'd never forgive himself if she lost her life protecting them. once the kids were gone, he'd run down the dock before giving a powerful leap, he actually landing at the front of the ship.::
Jason RAVVK5 (1:38:30 AM): ::she'd see him land, and straightened up with a gasp, mouth open as if about to say something, but she'd stop. she almost thought it was.. but it wasn't. she closed her mouth again, only to get whacked in the back with a piece of wood. she grunted and stumbled forward, only to leap at the man, lopping his head off. that was some sabre... she moved like the wind. a ferocious wind. he would see now another meaning to her name Typhoon::
nelmorr13 (1:41:49 AM): ::one pirate with a sabre would come towars Dart only to be seemingly lashed across the throat, he gripping his neck as he falls to the deck. jumping onto the main deck, his whip sings through the air as he begins lashing the pirates to ribbons as the Typhoon cuts them to pieces.::
Jason RAVVK5 (1:47:12 AM): ::she'd keep her eye on him, making sure he didn't get himself killed. at one point, she'd disappear below deck for a minute or two. when she came back up, she was sprinting as fast as she could. she'd leap down to the main deck, grabbing Dart around the waist and lifting him up - even if she could speak, there wouldn't be time to tell him to get going, as she'd probably have to waste a second or two telling him why. she'd run for the front of the boat, hopping up onto the rail and leaping off towards the docks. while in the air, there'd be a loud, powerful explosion from inside the ship, the shock sending them over the docks and into a rough landing on shore::
nelmorr13 (1:51:34 AM): What the?! ::he'd be surprised as he was lifted up, for a moment thinking that maybe she was one of the pirates. looking down, he'd look back at the ship just in time to see it explode, he covering his face from the debris before they came to a rough landing. he'd give a groan as he sat up, looking out at the ship.::
Jason RAVVK5 (1:56:54 AM): ::as she stood herself up, he'd finally be able to see her clearly - the fog, then confusion on the ship had made it difficult. she'd picked up quite a bit of new gear, including a duster that reached her ankles, some new clothes, a pair of sunglasses, and a pair of gloves. what couldn't be seen were all the weapons kept on herself. she'd had fun looting a few pirates who tried to take advantage of her in that rowboat... she'd watch the ship, and a few seconds after she'd stood, she'd lift her hand, faintest of grins on her face, snapping her fingers. and at that precise moment, another explosion would go off, completely ripping the ship in two::
nelmorr13 (1:58:36 AM): ::he continued to watch in amazement before looking up at her again. she'd completely saved their ass. he knew he could take out a good number of those pirates but also knew that eventually they'd have probably overwhelmed him just by sheer numbers.::
Jason RAVVK5 (1:59:41 AM): ::her hand then shifted to pull off her sunglasses, pushing them up to the top of her head. she turned and looked down at him, offering him her hand. seems she'd adjusted to life in that age rather quickly...::
nelmorr13 (2:01:08 AM): ::taking her hand, he rose to his feet and dusted himself off. he then looked back up to her, offering a light smile.:: Thanks....we definitely owe you one.

So, things got really hectic playing out the 'end', and we ended up just forgetting about it and skipping ahead to what we'd planned on doing afterwards. A little disconcerting, but it turned out for the better. The stuff we're playing out right now won't be in the books exactly this way, as certain things that happen in the storyline with him won't happen in the books and such. But it does give me an idea of how it'll work to play Rhia the way she is when she wakes up, and also let me hammer out the details about the world in this stage of destruction, including the planet itself as well as the people and the technology, etc. Anyway, over the next few days, I'm going to post up what pieces of actual world history are vital to the storyline so I don't forget. Don't expect to understand much of it. Then again, understanding is not something many of you have done, so far, is it?

Hectic times

There won't be much updating for a few days, I don't think. Things are getting pretty hectic at home. I'm getting into the actual writing of the books. And, sorry, that's not getting posted up here. You people have to buy something some day, right? The most I'll post are little shorties I think up here and again. Getting to a crutial point in my rp with nelmorr13, and I decided posting up what's been going on would spoil too much. There's one other rp I'm trying to work on with a certain best friend of mine, and some of that might get up here. If not, I'll just type up my idea for that situation that started the whole thing. I won't start seriously writing until I get some more research done involving the history of the world that applies to Rhia and everyone else, as I'm trying to keep this as relative to Earth's history as possible. As you can imagine, it's rather difficult. I'm also in the process of getting a temporary job for before my vacation this summer, and one for after between when I get back and when I move. After I get settled with that, or maybe not until I move, I'll really buckle down and start writing. Finding the time and energy has been my biggest challenge thus far. Just bear with me, everyone. And comment on stuff, damnit ><

"Lucifer? So then..."
"Yes. You are in Hell. The deepest bowels of Hell, actually. Only one other woman has ever laid in that bed."

"Your mother."
"Lucifer, why am I here?"
"I don't know, Zelda. I really don't have any idea."

"You're going out there, aren't you, sister?"
Zelda let out a slow sigh, sad look in her eyes. "I have to. There is no acceptable alternative."
Haru stepped closer to her, hand touching her shoulder. "I'll go with you. I'll protect you. You, and your daughter."
Zelda choked up at the last part. Her arms went around Haru and hugged him close. "Thank-you, little brother."

::the next day had gone well, her talks flawless as usual, as was the meeting with the Pope and other leaders who'd gathered at the Vatican. with the rest of the night to herself, she'd retreat to one of the gardens within the country known as the Vatican. she was still dressed in the nice clothes from the meeting - knee-length pale blue skirt with a white blouse that fit her well. she had rolled up her sleeves, one hand trailing in the water as she stared down at her reflection. grumbling, she splashed at it and turned round to rest her chin on her hand, elbow on her knee:: I feel like Relena Peacecraft..
nelmorr13 (1:21:43 AM): If that's the case, does that make me Heero Yuy? ::his face would appear in the water while he was standing above her. that ever present smirk is on his face yet again.::
Jason RAVVK5 (1:23:24 AM): That's assuming I love you. ::the words were quiet, she looking off to the side, not even daring to look up at him, afraid of how she'd feel. she wished this blasted campaign were over...she wished humans could take care of themselves even more so that her task as the Negotiator would be obsolete...::
nelmorr13 (1:27:15 AM): Well I dunno. If I recall correctly, the two were essentially polar opposites when the story began. We still have to see how the story plays out. ::he sat down next to her calmly.:: How is the Pope's health?
Jason RAVVK5 (1:29:13 AM): ::she let out a soft sigh as he spoke. at his question, she'd look down at her lap, drying her hand off on her skirt:: He's doing alright. They think he'll live another five, maybe even ten years. Not very surprising, I guess. He seems alive enough.

Jason RAVVK5 (1:36:24 AM): Berlin. ::she lifted her gaze to look out over the garden, watching a songbird perch itself on a bush and chirp to its mate across the way on the garden wall. it brought a light smile to her lips::
nelmorr13 (1:37:56 AM): Canary. ::of course talking about the type of a bird it was. the interesting thing was he wasn't looking at it, his attention on one of the domes in view.::
Jason RAVVK5 (1:40:10 AM): ::her brow lifted some, looking over at him. and as she did, faint blush found her cheeks as her stomach fluttered. but she found she couldn't look away. she swallowed uneasily:: Have you the song of all birds memorized, prince? ::from anyone else in their condition, it might be supposed that she was teasing him with the name. but the way she said it...it sounded almost natural..::

nelmorr13 (1:53:50 AM): ::noticing that, he walked behind her and suddenly wrapped his arms around her. before she could say anything, he lifted up and bent his back. the angle and bending of her back would cause a ring of snaps to go down her spine.::
Jason RAVVK5 (1:56:34 AM): ::she let out a bit of a yelp, more from surprise than from pain, as it actually felt rather good. when he set her back down, she wouldn't move to get away from him, head turned a bit to the side, speaking over her shoulder to him, her voice once again quiet. she sounded...lost. confused, maybe:: Do you always do so many favors in order to get what you want, prince?
nelmorr13 (1:57:53 AM): I don't do favors. I give what I think is an even exchange. ::a rather slick way of saying he'd do anything for her, he smiling casually down at her. his arms hadn't unwrapped from her just yet, just wrapped loosely around her.::
Jason RAVVK5 (1:59:46 AM): ::well..she hadn't expected that answer. another uneasy gulp, finding herself unable - or rather, unwilling - to move away from him. maybe it was just the ache and lonliness of not having Li around..or perhaps... no..it just..it couldn't be...::

Jason RAVVK5 (2:10:29 AM): ::her breath shuddered some, mouth drifting open a bit as she trembled in his grasp. she really was terrified...and however many things she attributed the fear to, it all had one thing in common - him. terrified of him because he could make her feel this way, terrified of him because she couldn't stop thinking about him, terrified because her desire to be with him was beginning to overpower her love for Li::

Jason RAVVK5 (2:27:10 AM): ::she let out a relieved sigh as she pulled away from him, turning to face him as she continued to back-up, arms curled around her stomach:: Please...just leave me alone... I don't need this.. ::she turned back around and started to head back inside::
