Me
Well, I've decided. I will do these books anonymously. From now on, I'll be referring to myself on paper and on the web whenever assosciating myself with Kolareny Chronicles as The Author. No, I won't even be using a pen name, just The Author. Perhaps one day some hacker or talented fan of the series will be able to track me down. Depending on how things are going, I may or may not let myself then go public. But until then, I won't be doing book-signings, interviews, documentaries, or anything of the like. The only way someone might get ahold of me for my opinion will probably be this site or some other site I set up to keep in touch with fans. For those who want my opinion on things for documentaries or the like will have to go through my agent, and even then I will probably only do things in writing or over the internet. Yes, I'm doing this partly as a publicity stunt. The writing world is hard to barge into, and while I think my stories have what it takes to make it, it could never hurt to do a few other things for the sake of interest from the fans. But I'm also doing this so that I might be able to continue my work, all my work, in peace and without papparazzi or spotlight. If it's necessary, I may some day go public in order to help the Haven for Orphans I hope to one day create stay in business. Though, I really do hope to do that solely with my book earnings. But, if donations become necessary, I'll do everything I can to see that my dream, and the dreams of so many children, stay alive.
Updates
Not much to say. I'll be moving within the next month, so writing will becoming my main past-time, next to painting, working, unpacking, and hopefully sleeping and eating. This weekend I'll be spending in DC for the Merrils Merrauders reunion my mom wants to go to. Her dad was one, and even though he died since the last one, she was invited and has decided to go. I'm going mainly so I can get some painting done - set up an eisle out and about and get some paintings and sketches. Should be fun. I'm considering turning the parlor of the new house into a gallery for my art, to sell to people who come by. There's a museum right across the street, so there should be plenty of traffic, especially if my art is of the neighborhood and river. Anywho, this has nothing to do with the books..To get back on track, I'm also thinking about opening Kolareny Chronicles not with the first book of Rhia's beginnings, but rather with something from a little later, and instead save her start of life for later, as a prequel kind of thing. Still not entirely sure. I'm also trying to think of what name I'll use as author... I certainly won't be keeping my maiden name, as it too closely resembles another famous writer's. Perhaps my married name, but that would require knowing who I'll marry or being married by the time I release the first one. Then there was the thought of calling myself just The Author. A friend told me it's too cliche, though I really haven't heard anyone use something like that, not in reality. People in fiction calling themselves that, or the Artist, or something along those lines, but in actuallity, no one's really got the guts enough to be so cocky, or rather to not want the publicity. I'm still not entirely sure I want people to know that I'm the person writing these books. Do I want to do book signings, be interviewed, be made fun of on tv, make my family's life a little more difficult? Then again, if no one knows who I am, there's little chance I'll be able to have an important say if my books are made into movies, which is very important to me. Also, if people know who I am, then the Haven for Orphans I hope to create with the money from the books will get the publicity it will need, for donations and hired help. We'll see how things go, I guess. For now, I just want to be left alone personally about the books. I'll tell people I'm writing them, but I've done well to restrain telling anyone what they're specifically about. I still have to get to work on naming all of Rhia's kids..that'll be something else.. I think once I get the internet back, probably when I move, I'll really be able to get rolling again. So much to do, and only the rest of my life in which to finish it all. What a bummer.
Some things I forgot.
Here are a few things I didn't think about putting up yesterday, or was too lazy to bother to find the paper with it written down. Rhia has 148 kids, 63 girls and 85 boys, in the span of 6500 years, starting from 4512bc with Mirian and ending in 2012ad with Haru. As I name the kids, they'll have a set of numbers in parentheses after the name, designating their place in the list of kids. For example: Mirian (1:1), meaning first child, and first girl. Aubrey is (2:1), second child, first boy. The child with Wong (not sure of a name yet) is (146:84), Zelda is (147:63), and Haru is (148:85). For now, those are the only ones I can tell you the full number for. I won't be able to give you which boy or girl the ones in the middle are until I figure out all of the names and what sex each is. But, to fill out what I do know, Larael is 96, Seth is 97, and the daughter of Lucifer (momentarily forgot the name) is 136. Now for the year each of them was born in. I've already said that Mirian was born in 4512bc. Aubrey followed a while later, in 4302bc. Larael in 338ad, and Seth twelve years later in 350ad. Lucifer's daughter might end up getting moved around depending on what I research about the Crusades and the other crazy things with the church, but based on the rp in which I'm pretty sure Lucifer said four hundred years, I have her born right now in 1640. Wong's son was born in 1898, a heck of a lot later than I had anticipated in my mind, but for him to be Eiji's great-grandfather, it was all that would work. Zelda's born in 2010, and as said, Haru is born in 2012. I had begun to anticipate Rhia having another son with Rhayvin, but decided against it while writing all of this up.Another little tidbit I researched a while back and have decided to put up here. In 753bc, Romans used the chronology AUC (ab urbe conditum, or in the year of the foundation of the city). In 525ad, the chronology changed to bc and ad. I don't know if I'll use that or now, but if I find that Rhia ends up in Rome between those dates, I'll probably use the chronology in dialogue. We'll see. I'm going to do my best to use some dialect of those periods - nothing like Shakespeare's playwrite language, but I won't use words that were invented after that period, or at least the equivelant. I'll never drop into elven or anything, unless there's a character that just doesn't understand whatever the common tongue is of the area. Anywho, that's all for now. Lunch time, and I've got a little personal business to take care of.
Oy!
Holy crap it's been a long time. My net has been severely down since my last post. It hasn't gone back up because we're planning on moving and don't see the point in putting the net back up in that place, then have to do it again in the new place. I've gotten a lot done since I last said something here. I've construed the path Rhia takes during the first book and a couple of the ones after. I've also determined exactly how many children Rhia's had, their sexes, and what year exactly they were born. A few new names that have popped up since last are Larael, Mirian, Mara, and Aubrey. Mirian was Rhia's first daughter, Aubrey her first son. Larael is quickly becoming the rough outline of what Seth turns into. Why? Because Larael is Seth's big brother. And I don't just mean he was born before him. Larael lived as Seth's big brother, born twelve years before him, and dying four or so years after. As for Mara, the name came to me in a very strange dream, and when I woke I at once knew she was Seth's first wife. I don't know anything else about her...In my rp, it's been hinted that Seth once took her hostage, but that mostly just came off the top of my head and may or may not be used. I don't know anything about any of the kids, really. It's going to be a few months while I decide their names and each of their personalities, even if they never show up personally in the books. A lot is being determined about the post-apocolyptic portion of the series, but there's still a hell of a lot more to figure out. Something else about the kids is that they all die before the age of thirty, except for Seth. Even Zelda (23) and Haru (21). Kinda creepy. Ah well. I also decided that Haru is born in 2012, which means I've determined the apocolypse is to take place in the year 2023. Let's hope it doesn't. Don't think I'll finish all of my books by then. Anywho..what else. There must be something else.. Bah. If I think of something else, I'll post it before I leave today, or tomorrow during one of my breaks. Hurray to being the youngest of my friends with a desk job.
